Please note this is a lay member session only with the purpose of electing for one vacancy on the Jurisdictional Lay Delegation. Bishop Farr will be presiding, and this session will not be livestreamed or recorded. Lay members will be released for the day at the close of this session.
Jurisdictional Delegation Vacancies
The Missouri Conference will vote via personal smart phone devices to fill vacancies in the jurisdictional delegation to attend the 2024 Jurisdictional Conference on July 10-12 at Central UMC in Rogers, Arkansas. Elections will be determined by plurality. Those candidates receiving the most votes on a single ballot will be seated in the order of election. We are electing for two clergy delegation vacancies and one laity delegation vacancy. We will not be electing reserves for the Jurisdictional Conference delegation.
Lay Delegate Requirements
As required by the 2016 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, “The lay delegates to the General and jurisdictional or central conferences shall be elected by the lay members of the annual conference or provisional annual conference without regard to age, provided such delegates shall have been professing members of The United Methodist Church for at least two years next preceding their election, and shall have been active participants in The United Methodist Church for at least four years next preceding their election and are members thereof within the annual conference electing them at the time of holding the General and jurisdictional or central conferences” (Para. 36).
Laity can nominate themselves at www.moumethodist.org/laityballot. The Bishop will accept nominations from the floor during the Laity Session as well.
